Greenwich Democratic Committee, Greenwich, New York 12834

Suzanne Cohen for Greenwich Town Council

I am a 45 year old wife and the mother of two teenage sons who are currently attending Greenwich High School. We live on Hill Street in the Village of Greenwich, just across the street from St. John's Catholic Church. I have a BA from Douglass College of Rutgers University, and a Masters Degree in Education from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. I have been doing some writing while working as a local substitute teacher, these past two years, and am currently also enjoying working at the Stewarts in Greenwich. I am a candidate for Greenwich Town Council on both the Democratic and Working Family Party lines.

My work history is diverse, from social services to teaching, and from secretary to department supervisor, so I am comfortable working on all types of issues with all types of people. I have also always done plenty of community service, including recently serving as Chairwoman of the Greenwich Democratic Committee. I am currently serving as Treasurer of the committee.

There has never been a woman on the Greenwich Town Council. I had a strong campaign for a seat on the last year, and I am confident that voters will elect me to office this November. And what would be better than finally having a woman's voice in local town politics? Having two women's voices -- both mine and that of Lisa Manzi. We will bring much needed bipartisanship and diversity to the Council with fresh voices and new ideas. I am also concerned about issues of safety and recreational activities for area youth and adults, supporting ongoing community dialogue.

As a taxpayer I am fiscally conservative, and will do all that I can to hold down taxes in Greenwich, provided services are not lost or compromised. I support the Town of Greenwich Comprehensive Plan and will do all I can to keep Greenwich Greenwich.

Participating in Greenwich, The Musical -- as did my whole family -- was an uplifting experience for all involved. It showed how a diverse group of people from one small community can work together to make truly marvelous things happen. I was proud to represent our area's businesswomen in the show stopper, "Ladies of the Street".
